My new cell phone

Nokia E51Recently, i got myself a new cell phone. After much researching, I decided on the E51 - a business class phone from the nokia camp.

Some of the reasons why i decided on the e51 are -
1. The slim design
2. Radio - it has become an integral part of my commute.
3. A fast processor(369mhz) and plenty of on device memory(130 MB).
4. 3g compatibility
5. Also an office suite was one of the major reasons for the upgrade.
6. And finally the huge range of software available for the symbian platform(which finally came in handy to deal with various problems i faced).

I must admit, it took me some time to get used to the ‘nokia’ way of doing things and i missed features like videodj which were part of my SE phone.

Although its been a week since i got this phone, i still have some minor annoyances that bother me.
1. The wallpaper does not scale full screen.
2. The in built music player thinks that every mp3 is a song/music track, no matter which folder you put it into.
3. There is no way to add just the contents of a single folder to the music library.
4. Quick office - there is no smooth scrolling. Scrolling occurs one page at a time, which i find very annoying.
Solution: Mobisystems Office Suite. Supports word/excel/powerpoint.
5. No image editor: This is a basic feature that comes in handy when you want to crop or resize images before you send them via e-mail or mms. I know that there exists a nokia image editor out there, but it does not work for the E51.
6. When transferring a file via bluetooth, the receiver is unaware of how much of the file has been transfered.

I intend to update this page if i find solutions to the said problems…

In all, given its features, it certainly delivers the bang for the buck…
