Bluetooth - The Next Horizon

BluetoothRecently, i had delivered a presentation on the bluetooth technology - Its features, functionalities and future implications in our daily lives. The presentation tries to explain the working of the technology and takes a quick peek into what the future holds for it.

Abstract:
Bluetooth is a technology, that projects a lot of promise and potential for the near future. From the current trends, it is quite evident that bluetooth is fast becoming the next gen hot and chic technology, and with a host of devices suddenly becoming bluetooth enabled, any cell phone that doesnt incorporate bluetooth is looked at as a lower form of life in the gadget world. Can one say, the fun has just begun.

The popularity of bluetooth is basically because, bluetooth can support any class or type of device to communicate with each other, as long as they follow the bluetooth specifications.

Even the short range of bluetooth proves as a plus point in its favour because, bluetooth was meant to connect devices which are most likely to be in the 10 meter range of say, a house.

The capablities that this technology offers, are endless in terms of ad-hoc setting up of devices. This is a boon for any layman user. No wires, no plugs or sockets to match, according to shape and colour, no exhaustive reading of manuals just to get a gadget up and running. The day is not far when all devices in every home will be connected via bluetooth, just as normally as they are connected via cables today.

Mumbai Serial Bomb Blasts

Mumbai serial bomb blasts

A sereis of bomb blasts rocked mumbai yesterday, in what can be called a most cowardly act of terrorism. These bombs were placed in the mens first class compartments, inside various subarban local trains.

The bombs were placed in trains across various locations ranging almost the whole of the western suburban line. The bombs were designed with the clear intention to cause maximum damage. The bombs were placed inside objects such as school bags and other carry bags. These were also packed with other highly damage causing materials like nuts, bolts and nails.

I myself, was at the matunga station where one of the blasts took place. The trains were ripped apart and they seemed more like a mangled toy. The roof of the station close by was blown away by the sheer power of the blast.

I along with many other citizens voluntered and redirected most of the stranded people to camps nearby. The police force was soon overwhelmed and found itself incapable of containing the volume of the people on the streets and it was chaos all over.

All routes of communication except for the internet went dead as the city was virtually cut off from the rest of india. Cell phone networks jammed. Landlines were almost continuously engaged. No calls could get through. There was absolutely no way in which these shaken and stunned survivors could inform their loved ones of their well being or location.

Finally, It were the citizen of mumbai who displayed exemplary courage and came forward with helping hands for the injured. These citizen helped in any way possible even letting stranded passengers into their homes to spend the night and proved once again that mumbai does have a heart.

Nashik Trip

NashikI had been to nasik last week. With not much rains around this time, i had not expected to see a lot of greenery. However, i must say i was pleasantly surprised :)

It rained a bit while i was there for a couple of days, The weather could not have been better. Me and my friends decided to visit the “vaani devi’s” temple and it was lil bit of a climb to reach there. However, its pretty easy to reach now, with the construction of concrete steps and other support structures. On the top you will find monkeys roaming amock the people. I did get pretty close to a handsome one :D . The nights in nashik were mildly chilly, altough not cold, but you would wanna carry a couple of comfy blankets…

When we left, as we sat at kasara station waiting for the train, it started raining heavily and my friends enjoyed their last free shower from the heavens. For anyone planning a trek or a picnic, i would say now is the time. With the recent rains, the whole place is covered in green.

For me, this was a trip i will never forget. Wish i could stay a lil more…and wish my whole group could come along… but then again, if wishes were horses…
